PREPARING FOR YOUR TATTOO

Getting ready for your tattoo is crucial for a successful experience! Ensure you have a good night's rest and avoid partying too hard the night before. It's important to eat healthy and drink lots of water leading up to your appointment, as this will help your skin heal faster and stronger. Please do not apply numbing agents prior to your session; if you want to use one, bring a new bottle of Bactine or H2Ocean, or consult your artist for their preference. We also recommend gathering your aftercare and numbing products beforehand—check our Amazon Associate link below for our top picks! Lastly, if you have any medical conditions or are on medication, be sure to consult your physician before getting tattooed. Continue reading for our "During and Aftercare" tips.

During Care

During care isn't talked about enough! Check out these tips for getting tattooed like a pro! First make sure you bring your I.D! Treat yourself by bringing a couple sodas and a few snacks! The sugar will help you maintain your energy, Healthy snacks like bananas or dried fruit are a perfect start, or indulge in your own favorites like a snickers bar. Dress casual/comfy and in appropriate clothing that can access the area being tattooed, keep in mind that ink can get on your clothes in certain circumstances, so we would not recommend wearing your favorite outfit. You may be sitting for a while and we have in studio entertainment to keep you occupied, however it always helps to be comfy, so feel free to bring along a pillow or a jacket just in case. If you are worried about the pain, use our Amazon associate link below to buy some H2O "nothing" soap or "nothing" cream. For last minute numbing options, stop by a local drugstore to buy a new bottle of Bactine for your artist to use, that you can later use to clean and sanitize your tattoo.. More on aftercare below..

After Care

Taking care of your new tattoo is essential for its longevity and vibrancy. We recommend two effective methods based on our experience and feedback from returning clients -

1. Clean & Moisturize - Wash your hands often. Wash the tattoo 3x daily with unscented antibacterial soap (Liquid Dial, H2Ocen soap, or similar) followed by a moisturizer (Aquatat, bacitracin, aquaphor, or similar) for the first 3-5 days until the tattoo wound is healed. When the wound has healed and the skin is peeling, continue to wash daily and apply an appropriate amount of unscented lotion (Lubriderm, H2Ocean lotion, or similar) as needed 7-10 days. Stay away from the sun, the gym, the pool, the bath and any strenuous activities for at least a 10 day period or until fully healed. We have provided an Amazon link at the bottom for our most recommended products. We suggest the 3 pack Soap, Aquatat, and lotion.  For numbing we suggest the "nothing cream" or "nothing soap". If any serious/concerning reactions occur, please contact your physician immediately for prescription creams and antibiotics as recommended.

2. Skin Derm - A skin derm ( saniderm, tegederm, or similar) can be applied directly after your tattoo and left on for 24 hours. Before removing the bandage under luke warm water, (shower recommended) wash your hands, then wash the tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap (liquid Dial or similar). Air dry the tattoo for 10 minutes. Be careful not to touch or expose the tattoo to any materials after it's been washed. Once dry, apply a new derm bandage (having someone help with this task makes it easier) making sure to cover the entire tattoo and an inch of surrounding skin. Leave on for 5 days, remove in the shower, and apply unscented lotion as needed for the next 7 days. ** Some skin types have a reaction to these bandages, trying a sample spot before your tattoo appointment is highly recommended! If you have any known allergies to adhesives, you should not use this method. Stay away from the sun, the gym, the pool, the bath and any strenuous activities for at least 10 day period or until fully healed.
